Got something great to say about GCS

"If you have been dissatisfied with the school options for your child I would like to recommend that you take a look at the Galesburg Christian School, GCS.   We were in this position a little over a year ago. With large class sizes, inadequate meals (our opinion), and seemingly increased discipline problems in the public school our son was attending we decided we would do a bit of checking around. We even went so far as to start looking at selling our home and moving into another area, though we love our home and its location. Then I found that one of my older son's friends had attended GCS. I talked to her about it and she had a very good experience (now attending WIU). Then I called her mother who is a professional here in Galesburg and her words to me were, "It is the best money we ever spent". So I looked it up on the internet and emailed the principal requesting a visit. I received a very prompt and warm reply inviting us to drop in any time. We did. The principal took the time to have a meeting with us on the spot, took us for a tour of the building and introduced us to the teacher that Grant would be having this year if we decided to go this route. It was a very nice building, bright and cheery with lots of the students work displayed, quiet, clean, air conditioned....... We left very optimistic. There is an application and testing process to be sure the student fits academically as it is a pretty rigorous learning environment. They do not serve hot lunches but they do have a kitchen worker who cools and warms any lunches the children bring. A hot lunch prepared at home! This was awesome. They begin teaching Spanish in the K4 (4 year old kindergarten) class and this continues through all grade levels. I am told that most K4 students enter K5 reading. I recently spoke to another parent who is amazed at the level her young daughter is reading after attending the early years at GCS. They also have an artist from Galesburg who comes in to teach art lessons. To make a long story short (as I could go on and on) we did enroll Grant in 3rd grade this year and we have not been disappointed! From the curriculum to the teachers and administrators to the environment we have felt that he is in the safest, warmest, and best learning environment that we can have him in. And he is happy, well adjusted, and full of self esteem!"

"Our daughter loves going to school everyday.  It is a very loving and friendly environment. The class sizes are small which helps children learn at a faster rate.  She is not only getting a good education, but she is learning good values.  This school is an asset to the Galesburg community."

I don't think I could thank this school enough for what you have odne for my family.  From the time I came to this school for a visit and felt the love that surrounded it, to the first teacher my son had here I couldn't get enough.  Mrs. Boyd, I know my son felt so safe in your class.  She taught my son so much even afer I was told my son would never learn.  He's now reading and writing and has such a positive outlook.  He enjoys going to school.  Thank you Mrs. Boyd for seeing my son for who he is and loving him with his flaws.  mrs. Johson is his teacher now and I thank her for the music that she has taught my son, and for not allowing him to just sit and disappear into the background.  Thanks for pushing him to look at the papers he is handing in ~ I believe he'll even thank you some day.  This is truely not a school but a family.  When someone has a problem there is always someone there to lend a shoulder to cry on, a helping hand, or just a smile to brighten the day.  I'm not sure if I could ever thank everyone enough for all you do.  God Bless

"I like this school because it teaches us about God.  I never really knew anything about God or Jesus.  The public school isn’t a very good place it doesn’t teach you about God and creation.  I am more loving now... "
