SNACKS WEEK OF 02/18~Thomas ~Thank you!

BIBLE: We will be learning about more of Jesus' miracles. The class may act out Jesus turning water into wine at the marriage feast after a number of practices. We have some "costumes" for the children to wear & they're excited about doing the little skit for chapel if they can learn the parts in a couple of weeks. We are learning our Zz verse, Psalm 97:8, & we continue working to learn Psalm 121.
PHONICS/READING: New special sounds "o" in "go," "y" in "fly," & "ay" in "pray" this week. The class will read words from word cards, sentences from the board, mark short & long vowels, & continue reading in circles.
NUMBERS: Review of number words, o-n-e through f-o-u-r, review of combination families, write combinations on board & complete workbook papers. The children are learning a difficult new concept, basic algebra, finding a missing addend in addition combinations. They amaze me!
WRITING: Journal writing, writing numbers through 100, last names on blank papers, & last week, the children wrote their first names from memory.
SCIENCE: Our new lessons in Science will cover God's Plan for Seeds.

A Note from Teacher: Thank you for the dollars you contributed for the veterans in the Manteno Veterans' Home! We are sending $113.13 for the veterans to use for commissary cards to purchase stamps, coffee, soda pop, gum, etc. I am praising the Lord for your generosity toward those in need!

100th day celebration on Monday! (Date changed due to "rough weather" day this past week.)

Valentine party on Thursday, February 14th!

Field trip to Carl Sandburg College on Thursday, 2/28, for their Teddy Bear Clinic. We'll leave school at 10:30, arriving at CSC at approximately 11:00. We'll return to school in time for our regular lunch period. We need drivers. If you can help us in that area, please let me know as soon as possible. Thank you.

Our class won the pizza sales contest & will be awarded a pizza party the week of 2/18. I'll be letting you know the exact date next week. Congratulations Emily Blucker, Maddy Bybee & all the families who worked selling pizza kits!
